That is what happened in August in Nosara, the surrounding beaches, and Playa Garza, with closures of multiple businesses. The Municipality claims they’ll have zero tolerance with operating businesses without properly obtaining operating permits, or evading tax. They announced that they will continue to follow up weekly, in all districts in regards to this subject.
Business are exposed to get large fines, for not complying to the new laws. On the other side of the coin, it is hard for the habitants of this area to not feel this is unfair due to the lack of support that the Municipality of Nicoya has shown to Nosara in different subjects in the past, such as the road pavement project and garbage disposal to mention some. For now operating businesses will have to make sure to comply with all the current legalities to keep their business running.
